First...I read your article on Josephus and Jesus.

Firstly I could not care less if Josephus referred to Jesus' death and resurrection or not.

I do not base my faith upon Josephus.

Furthermore, I do not see how or why this argument supports your case. Obviously the Qur'an states that Allah somehow deceived the Jews by making Jesus' death appear to them (a Gnostic idea).

The argument against this passage in Josephus might support your disbelief in the resurrection of Jesus. But then again, probably all Jews from this time could confirm that the resurrection of Jesus was the standard doctrine of Christians. The resurrection of Jesus is not by evidence based upon the Jewish community as a whole.

Furthemore, Christians in 30-80 believed in the resurrection, whereas the earliest recorded disbelief in Jesus resurrection is dated 110 AD in the writings of Ignatius the disciple of Peter and John the apostles, in which he responds to the docetics who believed that Jesus was fully spiritual and hence not really subject physical pain or death.

Islamics reference to such early heretical ideas do therefore not support the claim of the Qur'an.

As to your conclusion in the article, I am not entirely in agreement with you either.

Your approach appears at least to me to be inconsistent. For example at the end of your article you suggest that we should not pay attention to those scholars who suggest otherwise to your conclusion since they are only the opinions of scholars. But notice that the values of the arguments you bring up against the passage being authentic are also based upon scholars opinions.

In fact there are scholars who state otherwise to these, namely that removing the particular words from the passage in Josephus breaks the flow and renders the text devoid of something.Hogan Elijah Hagbardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06715947713008941795noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7465988133223323978.post-18251930972772472342010-02-19T04:12:11.095-08:002010-02-19T04:12:11.095-08:00This comment has been removed by the author.Hogan Elijah Hagbardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06715947713008941795noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7465988133223323978.post-17744277487882420092010-02-19T03:52:05.827-08:002010-02-19T03:52:05.827-08:00Doing very well thanks.
